Temperatures rise this Sunday in almost the entire peninsula

The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) expects that this Sunday, stable and dry weather will prevail in much of the country, with maximum temperatures that will rise in most of the peninsula and will be significantly high in inland areas and Mallorca. Except Galicia, where there could be a decrease due to rainfall.

The high temperatures will cause up to 19 provinces to activate risk warnings, with maximums that will reach 40 degrees in the cities of Córdoba and Granada, according to Aemet. Both in Córdoba, Granada and Jaén, as well as in Navarra, the warnings will be orange due to the heat -which means significant risk-, while in the rest of the 15 provinces the warning will be yellow (risk), especially between 1:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.

Specifically, Huesca, Teruel and Zaragoza; Albacete, Ciudad Real, Cuenca and Guadalajara; Girona and Lleida; Valencia; alava; Madrid; La Rioja and Mallorca will have a yellow warning, to which Menorca will be added, in this case due to rissagas (oscillations in sea level in ports, coves or bays).

It is likely that temperatures will reach 36-38 degrees in much of the interior of the southern, central and inland half of Mallorca, and 38-40 degrees in the Guadalquivir and Ebro valleys. Regarding minimum temperatures, general ascents will predominate, although slight decreases will be recorded in the Canary Islands, more pronounced in the midlands, where trade winds will also blow with strong intervals in the western islands, which will tend to subside.

The skies will be slightly cloudy or with intervals of medium and high clouds in a large part of the country, with intervals of low morning clouds in areas of the eastern third of the peninsula and the Strait.

An Atlantic front will touch the extreme northwest of the peninsula and will leave probable rainfall in the northwest of Galicia, without ruling out the western Cantabrian Sea.

Cloudiness of daytime evolution will be recorded in the interior of the eastern third, without ruling out dry storms, which may occasionally be accompanied by precipitation in mountainous areas. In the Canary Islands there will be intervals of low clouds in the north of the islands.

In addition, the presence of haze is likely in the southeast of the peninsula and in the Balearic Islands, which will spread to the rest of the southeast half of the peninsula.

Morning mists or mists are not ruled out in areas of the interior of the Valencian Community and eastern Castilla La Mancha and in the Cantabrian mountain range. In the last hours, some fog or mist may also appear in the area of the Strait and Alborán.

Trade winds will blow in the Canary Islands, with strong intervals in the western islands that will tend to subside. Winds from the west and southwest will prevail on the Atlantic and Cantabrian slopes and in the upper and middle Ebro. In the Mediterranean area the winds will be from the east and southeast.
