The castle performance of Els Nens del Vendrell in the municipality's Fiesta Mayor has been canceled this Wednesday after the first castle of the day, a 3 out of 8, had burned wood. The head of the group, Pere Marcé, has explained that there have been several bruises and that two adults and two minors have been taken to hospital.
Three of the injured have already been discharged and the fourth, a minor, has suffered a fractured femur and remains hospitalized. The events took place around two in the afternoon, after the popular parade and the dance of devils, when the castellera performance of the local group was scheduled.
Marcé has recognized that it has been "a big scare and has explained that it has been decided to suspend the action taking into account the time it was, delayed by the health action, "the impact" that the fall in the square has caused and out of "respect "to the bruised and to the public.
The group leader also regretted that the castle had given firewood, because it was "a safe bet", that it had been practiced a lot and that in rehearsals it had gone "very well".
