The first rays of morning sun gild the Pedraforca massif, illuminating the shy winter snow that colors this emblematic mountain of Catalonia white, as seen in this snapshot in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.
Pedraforca is one of the most popular mountains, located in the Sierra del Cadí, within the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park area.
Located on the border between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida, it has a very peculiar shape due to its two peaks separated by a large hill.
This peculiar silhouette of "U", now dotted with traces of winter snow, led to it being declared, in 1982, a Natural Site of National Interest.
The best-known view of Pedraforca is the one seen from its eastern slope. On the northern summit we find the peak of Pollegó Superior, at 2,506 meters high, and the peak of Calderer, at 2,505 meters high. The southern peak is formed by Pollegó Inferior, at 2,445 meters high.
