Sumar assimilates the shipwreck of his decree while Podemos sharpens its new negotiating role

The day after the parliamentary defeat of the subsidy decree, its promoter, Yolanda Díaz, was caught in the Belgian city of Namur where an informal meeting of European Union Employment Ministers is being held this Thursday. From there, the leader of Sumar has made a first assessment of the setback that occurred yesterday, accusing Podemos of "hitting" the workers "hand in hand with Vox and the PP."

The second vice president of the Government and Minister of Labor Díaz has become aware of the damage that those of Ione Belarra can inflict on the Government when Junts abstains from future votes. Although she has tried to make light of the shipwreck of her initiative, accepting that she "will have to negotiate much more" in a "convulsive" and "very difficult" legislature.

Partly because Podemos does not forget, nor forgive, his departure from the coalition government. Especially when the one who sits down to negotiate with the purple formation is Sumar. In fact, and in case anyone might think that what happened yesterday was an isolated incident or a simple presentation of credentials, Irene Montero wanted to make it clear the day after by polishing her new role in the investiture.

In that sense, and asked if the vote against her former partners hurt her, Díaz surprised: "What I'm going to say is not very orthodox. "I am only personally affected by the things of the people I love," she said.

In any case, Díaz has indicated that once the work on the increase in the interprofessional minimum wage is concluded on Friday, the social agents will be called "immediately" to work on the unemployment benefit reform.

In relation to the compensation obtained by JxCat after the PSOE's successful negotiation of its two decrees, the vice president has avoided personalizing each case, pointing out that she is part of the Spanish Government and that all decisions taken in the Executive "are joint."

Sources from Sumar, however, have assigned responsibility for the failure of the subsidy decree to Podemos, who, they claim, were summoned to one of the Senate bodies that yesterday functioned as Congress to attempt a final face-to-face meeting. The intention, they declare from the confederal space, was to work and even accept the amendment that Ione Belarra had announced to present.

However, Sumar's invitation, always according to his version, was not heeded by the leaders of the purple formation. The founder of Podemos, Pablo Iglesias, has denounced in statements to RAC1 that "there has been a display of lies that has become normalized in Sumar's praxis: 'We will hold primaries', 'Veting is not our style', 'The decree does not imply no cuts'...", he has listed to make it ugly that Díaz "has not wanted to negotiate with the left."
