Sumar appoints a provisional Executive until holding its constituent assembly in spring

Sumar continues to advance in its construction as a political subject and, with an eye on its future constituent assembly scheduled for the spring of 2024, yesterday named a provisional Executive Group that will be in charge of directing the formation until the aforementioned conclave in which The management body, a political presentation and an organizational presentation will be voted on.

The group, equal, includes both people from civil society and activists in political organizations, including Yolanda Díaz, Josep Vendrell, Marta Lois, Ernest Urtasun, Candela López, Lander Martínez, Mónica García, Íñigo Errejón, Sira Rego, Carlos Corrochano, Esther Gil de Reboleño, Javier Padilla, Elizabeth Duval, Enrique Santiago, Paula Moreno, Agustín Santos, María Eugenia Rodríguez Palop, Gerardo Pisarello, Silvia Mellado and Florent Marcellesi.

These are leaders of Sumar, Más Madrid, the commons and Izquierda Unida. But none from Compromís or Podemos. Two parties whose spokespersons had previously refused to participate in the process to protect their autonomy as much as possible.

Reason shared by the commons, IU and Más Madrid who, on the other hand, do not see incompatibilities between both postulates although they demand to put aside the rush to measure very well the steps of the construction of the space.

Likewise, the Executive Group has decided to appoint Josep Vendrell as executive coordinator of Sumar; Íñigo Errejón, as coordinator of the political presentation together with Marta Lois; and Lander Martínez, as coordinator of the organizational presentation together with Paula Moreno.

Vendrell was key to negotiating with the parties for the 23J coalition and will now focus on the organic deployment of the formation. Linked to the commons, he joined Díaz's chief of staff in the Ministry of Labor, just when he reached the leadership of the former confluence of Unidas Podemos after the departure of Pablo Iglesias, and since then he has become a key piece of the deployment by Sumar.

From the general elections to the formal beginning of the legislature, Díaz's project had chosen to strengthen itself on an ideological level. Today's appointments represent another step on the eve of the Basque and Galician elections. planned for the first tranche of 2024.

In that sense, the political document now known advocates carrying out a strategic analysis of the current situation and its possibilities, as well as overcoming the crisis of political imagination of the democratic and egalitarian forces in the world, which cannot continue to be defined tactically or by what they oppose but what future they propose. "Only in this way can we be an antidote to resignation, political disaffection or cynicism," the group emphasizes in a statement made public this Saturday.

Sumar assumes, therefore, the need for an ideological rearmament that involves "postulating and defending a concrete and desirable horizon of social justice, balance with the Earth and the enjoyment of shared freedom." "A horizon," she continues, that "guides a transition policy between the improvement of life in the meantime and progress towards a better, green, fair, feminist society."

The organizational document will set the terms of operation of an open political movement that, according to sources from the new Executive, "demonstrates that Sumar's style of doing politics is also reflected in his organization, and not only in his speech, reinforcing his dimension of movement and attending to the different dimensions of democracy: of course the representative, but also the participatory, the deliberative and the inclusive".

The integration of the different sensitivities and forces integrated into Sumar in view of the elections last July is the point that has required the most determination for its preparation. But the document made public guarantees that "the autonomy of the territorial forces that make up Sumar will be respected and the way to generate ties between them will be established," contemplating double militancy in the section referring to affiliation.

From Izquierda Unida, however, a federal model has been requested while at the autonomous level they are committed to confederation.

The team led by the second vice president, Yolanda Díaz, seeks to convert the flow of political support received into an organized force, inserted in the social territory and at the same time an engine of community ties and the generation of an alternative political subjectivity, which prefigures the world that we wish
