Students from the Alfonso X el Sabio University create an intelligent vehicle: it will help people with sensory disabilities and visitors

Students at the Alfonso X el Sabio University have developed an autonomous intelligent vehicle capable of guiding visitors and accompanying people with sensory disabilities around the university campus. It works by scanning the campus land, which is 10 hectares.

The vehicle has been defined, prototyped, assembled and tested by a multidisciplinary team of engineering students in industrial design, electronic engineering and mechanical engineering, who have worked together with the company Avanade, a leading provider of consulting, digital and cloud services, which It has its innovation space (LAB) in the facilities of said University.

This project is part of the educational model of the Alfonso They come into contact with the business world.

This initiative is part of a larger project called Digital Twin, which seeks to make a digital representation of the entire campus to optimize resources and carry out the relevant changes. Using tools such as this autonomous vehicle, which collects and analyzes data, the aim is to improve resource management and ensure the sustainability of the campus.

For Ramón Miranda, Technology Innovation Officer for Europe at Avanade, this initiative “creates a direct link between the university and companies, generating a scenario in which we can collaborate directly with students, work with them and learn about their best qualities as professionals. For us, this modality is a source of learning for innovative and restless young people, and a source of talent.”

"Projects like this allow us to think about practical solutions to the challenges that students will face when we finish our studies. With this experience we will be better prepared and will have more skills to develop in the business world," says Jesús Jiménez, student of the degree in engineering. mechanics from Alfonso X el Sabio University.

This methodology promotes collaborative and multidisciplinary work models, with teams made up of students from various degrees, replicating the work system of the work environment. Furthermore, during the development of the projects, students have direct contact with the real needs of companies and their professionals, while they generate innovative solutions and develop teamwork skills that are essential for their subsequent professional development.
