Some New Jersey prevent the passage of a Barcelona fire truck during a service

Some concrete blocks, known as New Jersey, prevented the passage of a Barcelona fire truck during a service last weekend within the framework of Obrim Carrers, the municipal initiative that restricts the movement of cars and motorcycles on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to use the road as a space for walking in some areas of the city. In this case, the incident occurred in the Sants-Montjuïc district, on Creu Coberta street near Consell de Cent.

After the vehicle was trapped, the quick action of the firefighters prevented greater evils. They themselves were in charge of moving the concrete blocks to reach the required destination. The event has been announced on social networks after some users have published the video of the moment in which the truck could not circulate because of the New Jersey.

Municipal sources have explained that it was a service in collaboration with the Medical Emergency System to remove a patient through the facade. The same sources have assured that the Barcelona fire brigade has already studied the space of the concrete blocks where they are installed in the framework of Obrim Carrers so that the trucks can pass.

The City Council has informed that for this action instead of the reference park for this territory, the Eixample, a larger vehicle with a ladder from the Montjuïc park was sent, so they had to remove the obstacles. The Consistory has added that this fact "in no case affected the service, the New Jersey was easily removed and the vehicle passed without problems."

A few months ago, this newspaper already echoed the alert of emergency vehicle drivers in the face of the growing difficulties in covering services due to road restrictions.
