Some fans of England look for beers in Qatar and end up playing with the lions of a sheikh in his palace

England gave a real exhibition in their debut at the Qatar 2022 World Cup against Iran after winning by a resounding 6-2. However, Gareth Southgate's footballers are not the only Englishmen putting on a show in the Middle East.

The shortage of beers. The restrictions on alcohol and its high price are causing many fans to have to see football from a different perspective than usual. Budweiser, one of the sponsors of the World Cup, has had to withdraw millions of liters of beer at the last minute because they cannot sell in stadiums or their immediate surroundings. This has caused some fans to look for some beer in remote places.

The protagonist. Alex Sullivan has posted on his Instagram account how he and his friend John, both Everton fans, began a curious adventure in search of beers to encourage his selection. On their mission to find alcohol, they met the sons of a sheikh, hit it off, and invited them to see his palace.

The palace inside. In later stories, the young man has published different photos of what the luxurious house looks like inside; with countless sofas, giant televisions and even an area set up for lions, with which they played. In the final clips you can see how the two fans and Alex's father are inside a car with music playing and one of the Qataris driving.

Echo in the media. The story has not taken long to go viral and media such as TalkSports have managed to speak with the protagonists: "We were looking for some beers. We went to the back of his Toyota Land Cruiser and ended up in a large palace. We were in the back He showed us his monkeys, his exotic birds. It was crazy."

In numbers. The Twitter account @thecasualultra has compiled all of Alex Sullivan's stories in the form of a video and its publication has close to 8 million views at the time of writing these lines. It has also garnered more than 85,000 "likes" and more than 13,000 retweets.
