The street is not perceived as a safe place for most women in Catalonia when they go out at night. Seven out of ten say they are afraid of suffering sexual assault (71%) when they are walking alone on the street at that time of day, according to the conclusions of the third wave of the Ómnibus 2023 survey by the Center d'Estudis d'Opinió (CEO), presented this Wednesday. The study reflects that one in two women, 52%, is "very afraid" of an attack of the aforementioned characteristics. In terms of security, the study also indicates that the perception of general insecurity that women have at night is high, when they walk alone on the street. Thus, one in two says that she is "very afraid" of suffering an attack (55%) or a robbery (56%).

In men, on the other hand, this perception of insecurity when traveling at night registers low indicators. 62% say they have "no fear" of suffering sexual assault when walking down the street at night and only 12% express feeling "very afraid." What men fear most is being robbed, but only 30% say they are "very afraid" of an attack of this nature, while 25% say they have "no fear" of being robbed.

The Omnibus barometer, prepared from 2,162 surveys between September 29 and November 30, 2023, addresses various topics linked to the public policies of the Generalitat, through questions proposed by the different departments.

When evaluating the security forces, respondents give an average of 8.5 out of 10 to the Firefighters, 7.2 to the rural agents and 6.8 to the Mossos d'Esquadra. In the case of Firefighters, the good assessment is very transversal, there are no major differences in the opinion of those surveyed depending on the party they vote for, and they all give grades higher than 8, and something similar happens with rural agents. However, in the case of the Mossos d'Esquadra, the evaluation of CUP and Vox voters is significantly lower than that of the rest, although they approve of them, with an average of 5.2 and 5.9, respectively.

In terms of immigration, 42% of those surveyed would accept the installation of a center for unaccompanied minors in their neighborhood or municipality, a percentage that drops to 34% if it is next to their home.

Another result of the study is that one in five Catalans (21%) has suffered scams when purchasing online in the twelve months prior to the study. 14% have suffered online banking fraud and the same percentage affirms that they have been the victim of a hacker attack, who has entered their email account or networks. 67% have suffered attempts to access their personal data fraudulently.
