Actor Russell Crowe recently revealed in an interview with People magazine that during the filming of the movie Robin Hood he suffered a double fracture in both legs. In addition, the Oscar-winning actor claimed not to have realized the injury until 10 years later after beginning to feel discomfort in the lower part of his legs.
In 2010, the film Robin Hood was filmed, starring Russell Crowe. His role required the actor to perform scenes in which he had to perform various stunts. In one of the sequences in which Russell had to jump from the gate of a castle, the actor landed directly with his heels on the ground.
Crowe, who did not perceive the danger until just before jumping, felt a sensation of “electric shock” that ran through his entire body after landing on a hard, uneven surface. However, the Les Miserables performer continued filming the film trying to downplay his fall despite the difficulties he had walking. The actor did not give himself a day's rest nor did he mention the incident to the filming producers until the recording was finished.
It was not until 10 years later that the actor began to notice some discomfort in the lower part of his legs. After weeks of strange pain, Russell decided to consult his discomfort with a doctor who subjected him to several tests, including x-rays and an MRI to find out the origin of the pain.
After his visit to the hospital, test results revealed that the actor suffered breaks in both legs right in the tibia area. According to the doctors' observations, these were old breaks that had not healed well and caused pain.
“Apparently I finished that movie with two broken legs. All for art. “No cast, no splints, no painkillers, I just kept going to work and over time they healed themselves,” Crowe said in the interview. After the doctor's diagnosis, the actor immediately linked the fracture to the incident on the set of Robin Hood.
After the recording of said film, Russell Crowe took a short break from the world of cinema and did not return to the big screen until 2013 with the release of Man of Steel, in which he played Superman's father. “I thought it was nothing serious. After working through a long New York winter, my body missed exercise and the sun,” he explained, referring to his months of recovery.
The interpreter is currently in a good professional moment. This 2024 he becomes an Air Force drone pilot in the film Land of Bad, a military thriller where he appears alongside Liam Hemsworth who plays his flight companion.
The film has received mixed reviews in the United States, where it was released on February 16. Despite the criticism, the actor continues to stand out for his way of transmitting on the big screen and maintains his success over the years.
