This morning the inspection work began on the outer walls of the Santa Maria del Mar basilica to verify that there is no risk of new landslides like the one that occurred on Saturday night on the façade facing the Fossar de les Moreres.
The affected area, once analyzed by a brigade of technicians equipped with a crane, will be covered with a protective fence while the necessary repairs are carried out.
No one was injured in the landslide and the first inspection carried out by the fire brigade determined that there was no immediate risk of other elements of the façade falling. However, the proximity of the Onze de Setembre celebration, which attracts a large public to this enclave, has made it advisable to take extreme security measures.
