Red Cross and Aigües de Barcelona plan to improve the employability of more than 400 people benefiting from the social water tariff

Aigües de Barcelona and the Red Cross have presented an assessment of the impact that the ONA (Employability, Basic Needs and Empowerment) program has had on improving the employability of people in vulnerable situations who receive the social water tariff.

In the balance act, held at the Red Cross headquarters, the main results of the program were presented, in which 197 people have participated until 2022. A figure that will reach 404 people during this 2023. It should be noted that 94% of people have completed the orientation and job placement itinerary. In addition, 111 people (56%) have achieved at least one employment contract during the program.

Felipe Campos, CEO of Aigües de Barcelona, ​​stressed that "it is key to continue strengthening the union and collaborative work between the social, public and private sectors to promote impact actions and programs such as the ONA, and accelerate a social transformation that guarantees a more prosperous and dignified future for all those who need it most”.

The company's CEO has highlighted how “ONA has become a program with high social impact that provides comprehensive care, not just job placement. It accompanies the person in all spheres and contemplates the coverage of basic needs so that the person can stay on the job orientation itinerary without suffering from the immediate need for food, rent or basic supply expenses”.

For his part, Josep Quitet, president of the Red Cross in Catalonia, stressed that the ONA program "shows the importance of continuing to work to improve employability with the people who need it most and to do so in a joint, coordinated and effective way between the public sector, the social sphere and the private sector”.
