RCD Mallorca condemns the racist act of a fan after Tchouaméni's goal in Son Moix

In the match played this Saturday between RCD Mallorca and Real Madrid, some images were identified in which a person made the gestures of a monkey after the goal by Frenchman Aurélien Tchouaméni that gave the white team the victory (0-1).

The racist gesture that took place in one of the Son Moix stands was recorded by Movistar cameras, but was not recorded by referee José María Sánchez Martínez in the match report. For its part, RCD Mallorca has condemned the act of racism through an official statement.

“RCD Mallorca does not and will not tolerate any manifestation of racism and actively participates in all campaigns to eradicate this scourge that goes beyond sport,” they wrote to disassociate themselves from any type of act that does not respect human rights.

In the recorded images you can see how the vermilion fan, wearing a black shirt and scarf from the Balearic team, mocks the French footballer while his teammates surround him celebrating the goal. The Mallorcan club has activated the protocol against violence in football and is collaborating with the National Police in identifying said person.

Regarding the actions of the referees, Sánchez Martínez did include in his writing the throwing of a "full water bottle" onto the field of play, which "did not impact any player," he noted. "The throw took place from the area where the fans of the local club are located. For this reason the match was stopped for 1 minute, notifying the field delegate through the public address system that the throwing of objects had to stop immediately," concluded the Murcian referee. .

This is not the first time that Son Moix has recorded cases of xenophobic attitudes. A year ago, a Mallorca season ticket holder was fined 4,000 euros and 12 months without entering the vermilion field for shouting "you're a monkey" to fellow Madrid player Vinicius Júnior, who entered the field this Saturday in the second half. .

That crash had its consequences and ended up in the Investigative Court 3 of Palma. The League denounced the insults and racist chants that Vinicius received in the Balearic capital, a situation often repeated in other fields. The player declared by video conference on April 4, 2023 that he had felt "offended" by the xenophobic and racist shouts that he received during the match.

Mallorca then issued a statement insisting that it "always takes a position against any type of insult or racist demonstration and works together with La Liga to identify the person responsible for the racist shouts in order to take the appropriate legal measures."

The animosity that Vinicius generates among the vermilion radicals was repeated three months later in the preview of the match between Mallorca and Valencia. The Court of Instruction 10 of Palma opened a case, filed shortly afterwards, for the insults to the Madrid player reflected in a banner displayed in a bar frequented by "ultras" from Mallorca.
