Espanyol made Luis Miguel Ramis official as its new coach, the eleventh in the Chen Yansheng era, after the dismissal of Luis García yesterday morning. The Tarragona-born coach has been chosen by Fran Garagarza to lead the project that must return the club to the First Division. Ramis signs for one year plus another if he achieves promotion.
Ramis' career is more famous as a footballer, where he wore the Real Madrid shirt, than as a coach. After managing the white reserve team he was hired by Almería, Albacete and Tenerife. For this reason, he has accumulated 200 games in the Second Division, but none in the top category.
Espanyol completely changes its football style with the hiring of Ramis. If Luis García intended to be offensive and dominant in each match, with the new coach a more conservative game than seen until now is expected.
