Puig will equate non-remunerative pensions to remunerative ones for retired housewives

Ximo Puig announced this morning that if he becomes president of the Generalitat Valenciana again in a left-wing government, he will equate non-contributory pensions to contributory ones, which will benefit more than 23,500 older women between the ages of 70 and 74 who have exercised almost all their life as housewives. In this way, Puig has said that the work that these women have done throughout their lives is recognized, and especially those who have worked without contributing.

The president has detailed that the measure will be carried out through aid that will complement the non-contributory pensions of housewives until they are equal to the contributory ones and has detailed that "housewives who have taken care of the family will be recognized without pay and also those women workers who have suffered precarious working conditions”. "It is a matter of justice, principles and dignity."

This measure is part of a package of actions that the PSPV wants to implement in the next legislature aimed at promoting equality between men and women and that includes three lines of action: work, as a fundamental right to be able to emancipate oneself, conciliation and fight against sexist violence. Another significant measure is that victims of prostitution will be recognized as victims of sexist violence with 12 months of subsidy, 18 if they have a child and 24 if they have two children.

Measures are also established to promote entrepreneurship in women. "There is a hidden iceberg that exists in entrepreneurship for women" pointed out the president who has announced the creation of the 'fons libera' with 75 million euros of investment for women, in addition to the creation of an office for the entrepreneur to advise women who want to start a business, and has ensured that, from his government, special attention will be paid to women in rural areas.
