Private showcooking at Nikkei 103 exclusively for Club Vanguardia

A night of gastronomic-cultural fusion is what 20 lucky members of Club Vanguardia enjoyed last Tuesday, February 28, at the Peruvian-Japanese restaurant Nikkei 103 in Barcelona. The name of the restaurant comes from the cuisine born from the fusion of Japanese immigrants who at the end of the s. XIX landed at the port of Callao (Peru). It mixes history, flavors, smells and textures of both towns.

In this exclusive private showcooking, the guests attended a masterful demonstration of the preparation of the restaurant's dishes, by the hand of its chef Gustavo Sugay, in his culinary bet that mixes the good and best of two countries particularly does in his kitchen. Sugay, of Peruvian-Japanese origin and specialist in Nikkei and Japanese food with more than 15 years of experience, began preparing the evening's main courses at a table in the center of the room, around which place the guests In this way, the participants were able to see all the details of the chef's exquisite preparation of the restaurant's best dishes.

While Gustavo Sugay was busy preparing the evening's main menu, subscribers were able to enjoy some very special starters, including Chicken and Vegetable Gyozas with Yellow Chili Sauce, Prawn Avocado Oshi Sushi and Causitas limeñas with chicken and olive sauce.

Once the cooking demonstration was over and having had a first taste of the delicacies of Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, the guests tasted the rest of the dishes that Gustavo had prepared with such care: a delicious Nikkei Ceviche of tuna, Uramaki acevichado, Scallops parmesan and prawn Yakimeshi.

In the laid-back and relaxed atmosphere offered by the restaurant, the guests enjoyed the most while delving into the depths of one of the most acclaimed fusion cuisines. To round off the evening, for dessert they tasted the popular Tres leches, all served with wine, soft drinks and water, and they were presented with a pisco, a cocktail that they can consume whenever they want in the same restaurant.
