Posters appear in memory of the Israeli hostages of Hamas in Barcelona

A significant number of posters, each showing the face of one of the more than 120 hostages that Hamas kidnapped in the attack on Israel on October 7, have appeared plastered on the walls of buildings on several streets in the neighborhood of Eixample in Barcelona this Saturday morning.

Although the authorship of the action is unknown, in other European cities, such as London, it was the Jewish community of this town that placed the posters. Each sign indicates the name and photograph of one of the civilians that Islamic Resistance Movement fighters took last week to the Gaza Strip, where they are being held captive.

These are members of families residing in Jewish settlements near the Strip, including minors or elderly people. At the moment, their state of health is unknown, although the Israeli army reported today that some of them have died, as it recovered their bodies in a rapid ground raid carried out on Friday night in northern Gaza, as revealed the Haaretz newspaper citing a military spokesman.

The posters also offer information on the number of casualties Israel suffered - more than 1,300 - as well as other details of the raid by 1,200 Hamas members on Saturday. Likewise, the posters compare the Islamist group with the Islamic State, within the framework of the story that Israel offers about Hamas, considered a terrorist group by Tel Aviv and much of Western countries.

Among the hostages are people with dual Israeli and American nationality, as well as people from other countries. US President Joe Biden assured last night on the 60 Minutes program that his administration is "working as hard as possible" to find the American captives.
