The Michelin Guide Portugal 2024 will be presented today in the Algarve, in the south of the country, for the first time in its history as a separate edition from that of Spain in a ceremony that will seek to highlight the Portuguese culinary offer as an "unmissable destination."
The gala will take place at the NAU Salgados Palace
The master of ceremonies will be the Portuguese presenter and actress Catarina Furtado, while the chefs Dieter Koschina, from the Vila Joya restaurant (2 Michelin stars), and Rui Silvestre, from the Vistas Rui Silvestre restaurant (1 Michelin star) will serve as gastronomic coordinators of the event. .
Currently, Portugal has 161 restaurants included in the guide, of which 7 have two Michelin stars, 30 have one and 3 have been recognized with the Green Star. The French company has not yet given any Portuguese establishment the three stars.
On the other hand, 37 restaurants have received the Bib Gourmand recognition, which rewards the best quality/price ratio.
The first edition of the 'Michelin Guide to Hotels and Restaurants in Spain and Portugal' was published in 1910 and it was not until 2022 that the French organization announced that the Atlantic country would have its own gala.
