The house of the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, was raided around midnight this Friday by a team of prosecutors and agents of the National Police as part of a preliminary investigation opened against the ruler for the alleged commission of the crime of illicit enrichment. .
In images shown by local media, a group of agents can be seen breaking the lock on the main door of Boluarte's home in the Lima district of Surquillo after not being attended to when knocking repeatedly on the house.
Local media reported that the ruler is not at home and that only one of her children was there, although one of the president's lawyers later arrived, while the Public Ministry has not yet offered any formal information about the intervention. .
According to the RPP radio station, the raid for seizure registration purposes was approved by Supreme Judge Juan Carlos Checkley after a request presented by the Attorney General, Juan Carlos Villena, as part of the investigation of the alleged commission of the crime of illicit enrichment, in the form of omission to record statements in documents.
In recent days, the Presidency of Peru and the Public Ministry have maintained a controversy regarding the proceedings initiated as part of the investigation opened by the ruler's alleged failure to declare her luxury watches.
Last Wednesday, the Prosecutor's Office reported that visits to the ruler both at her home and at the Government Palace were frustrated, while the Presidency assured that representatives of the Public Ministry were assisted by staff from Boluarte's office, who received a notification for the president.
Supreme Prosecutor Hernán Mendoza declared before the Congressional Oversight Commission that the president "had frustrated" the investigations by not responding to the summons made for Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
After this situation, Boluarte's legal defense asked to reschedule the proceedings in the investigation of the luxury watches case that the president did not declare and for which she is being investigated for illicit enrichment.
In response to this request, the attorney general commented that the president's attitude was a "clear indicator of rebellion" that only "delays the outcome of the investigation."
On March 18, the Public Ministry initiated preliminary proceedings against Boluarte for this case, since the president should have declared said assets in her property registry before the National Elections Jury (JNE) and the Prosecutor's Office pointed out that she did not do so.
However, Boluarte declared last week that she was committed to going to the Prosecutor's Office to respond to this investigation and stated that she does not have any asset imbalance.
