Pedri retires injured against Manchester United

Bad news for Barça. Pedri withdrew injured in the 42nd minute of the match against Manchester United in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32. The canary immediately noticed muscle problems, limping on the Camp Nou pitch until the ball stopped and he could finally be substituted.

The canary will be out for between 15 and 20 days due to an ailment in the anterior rectus of his right thigh and will miss the return leg at Old Trafford and the first leg of the Cup semifinal against Real Madrid on March 2. The midfielder was replaced by Sergi Roberto. His injury is especially sensitive for the Blaugrana team.

The man from Tenerife is one of the players who generates the most play in the team and this season he has improved in terms of goalscoring, with seven goals. Pedri's last goal served for Barça to take the three points at the La Cerámica stadium against Villarreal in the last day of the League, where the Catalans are prominent leaders.

In addition to the European tie and the semifinal against Real Madrid, Barça will have important commitments in the domestic competition. The Barcelona fans will face Cádiz, Almería, Valencia and Athletic in the next league games.

Pedri, 20, has played 30 games this season for Barça, of which he has started 27, only starting substitute against Girona, Mallorca and Elche. The loss of the midfielder joins those of Ousmane Dembélé, also with muscular problems, and that of Sergio Busquets, with a left ankle injury.
