This Sunday it was possible to dance the sardana of Corpus in Olot's Plaza Mayor and the giants, dwarfs and little horses took part in the party, as seen in this report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.
Yesterday the rain damaged a part of the carcavila. It is the first time this year that Farándula has danced. The second is for the Tura festivities.
Taking advantage of the occasion of the Corpus sardana dance, the Gegants of Olot make one of their two annual outings, which generates expectation among the population, as it is about fulfilling one of the most popular traditions.
The farandula of Olot is the set of figures typical of the entire municipality: the Giants, the Cap de Lligamosques, the Cavallets and the Cabeçuts.
This farandula can be seen together once a year, for the Tura festivities, although for Corpus Christi the Gegants and Cap de Lligamosques come out to dance and you can see Cavallets and Cabeçuts.
Among the figures, the oldest is the Gegant and it has been documented since the 16th century. All have been shaped by renowned local sculptors, such as Ramon Amadeu, Miquel Blay, Celestí Devesa or Francesc Estorch.
