The consortium that manages Colonia Güell has signed the acts of initiation of new restoration works for the crypt designed by Antoni Gaudí in Santa Coloma de Cervelló. As reported by the Baix Llobregat Regional Council in a statement this Wednesday, the works have a budget of 416,263 euros and an execution time of half a year.
The regional entity has reported that this work consists of "intervention and repair of the flat stone roof and the zinc roof of the access staircase to the church of Colònia Güell". The objective is to "guarantee total waterproofing in the intervention sectors to protect Gaudí's work".
The works to protect the building included in the Unesco world heritage list are financed with the help of the Feder funds of the European Union. They also want to "extend its useful life and minimize its maintenance."
Other restoration works were completed in January of this year, in this case with a budget of half a million euros. On that occasion, work was performed on the main deck, on the exterior walls and on the trencadís.
