Montserrat seen from La Tallada

I share in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia this panoramic view of the Montserrat mountain seen from the town of La Tallada, in La Segarra, with the green fields and even the windmill in the foreground.

La Tallada is a population entity of barely half a hundred inhabitants, in the municipality of Sant Guim de Freixenet, and which still preserves the remains of an ancient castle from the 11th century.

In fact, its castle has been mentioned since the year 1064, as the Taiada castrum. Currently, there is a remodeled building located in the upper part of the town, known as Cal la Piculina.

From La Tallada we have a clear perspective of Montserrat, a rock mass traditionally considered the most important and significant mountain in Catalonia.

With a maximum height of 1236 meters at the Sant Jeroni peak, this mountain rises abruptly to the west of the Llobregat river. Since, according to legend, the image of the virgin was found in the Santa Cova, Montserrat has been a place strongly linked to spirituality.
