Modernity and classic soul merge in this new retro roadster

There are vehicles that are born to make history. And the new retro-style Ares Wami Lalique Spyder roadster is probably one of them. This is not just any luxury car. It does not seek to beat record acceleration times, nor does it have impressive power figures. It also does not incorporate the latest generation technology, nor does it boast of offering different driving modes, nor does it join the trend in electromobility.

On the other hand, its curved, soft and generous lines, its elegant profile and the vintage design of its wheels immediately transport us to the mid-20th century, even knowing that it is a 21st century car. Its exterior is made entirely of carbon fiber and has been designed at the Centro Stile of Modena by the prestigious Italian coachbuilder Ares Design.

Another of the distinctive elements that make it unique is that it incorporates 13 glasses made by hand by the prestigious French glassware firm Lalique. We can find them on the body, on the wheels and inside the car. It is the first time the French glass manufacturer has fully equipped a production car, adding to the rarity of the Wami.

The body is inspired by the long hood and huge front grille of the Maserati A6GCS Frua, one of the most special cars in the brand's catalogue. On the other hand, the wide side profile and ventilation grilles honor another classic, the Ferrari 250 GT California. The wheels and chrome details complete the undeniable retro aesthetic.

The Ares Wami Lalique Spyder is powered by a naturally aspirated 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that produces 231 HP of power and a roar with character, in line with its roadster aesthetic. This four-wheeled whim is the result of an unprecedented collaboration and has emerged from the imagination of Ares CEO Waleed Al Ghafari, who has always admired classic machines and wanted to pay tribute to an era with a completely new car.

“As a child, I was captivated by the cars driven by movie stars during the wonderful, carefree era of Dolce Vita,” explains Al Ghafari. "It was this admiration that led us to design and develop a car like no other: a retro-style roadster that not only pays homage to some of the most beautiful automobiles ever created, but incorporates the prestigious craftsmanship of Lalique," he notes.

"The perfect combination of Lalique's custom glass design and Ares' excellence in automotive design and technology has resulted in the ultimate luxury accessory," says Silvio Denz, president and CEO of the glass manufacturer.

Only a total of 12 examples of the Ares Wami Lalique Spyder will be produced, making it as exclusive as the 1950s legends it wants to emulate. Although it will not rival the engineering of a state-of-the-art sports car, it is a unique alternative for those drivers or collectors with a taste for vintage who want to acquire an exhibition vehicle, which is in turn a piece of art. You can see more details of how it was manufactured in the attached video.
