Òmnium asks the UN for an investigation commission for espionage in Spain

Òmnium Cultural has asked the UN to create an international investigation commission on the case of political espionage against independentistas in Spain, to "identify and punish those responsible".

The president of the sovereign entity, Xavier Antich, has sent a letter to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, in which he asks for a commission to prepare a "really independent and impartial report on massive espionage" to independentistas, explained Òmnium in a statement.

Òmnium wants the UN to "pressure the Spanish State to comply with its international obligations", given the "null investigation" of the Government of Pedro Sánchez and the "impunity of those responsible" for espionage against independentistas.

The entity wants Bachelet to "urge" the Spanish government to initiate an "immediate, independent, transparent and effective investigation" into this case.
