Barça, one of the favorites in both the Endesa League and the Euroleague, has started the season irregularly, with unexpected defeats where it has not been able to count on its star, Nikola Mirotic, who returned to team training this Saturday after five months away due to an Achilles tendon injury in his left foot.
The Spanish-Montenegrin completed his first session of the course under coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and with his teammates after being away from the slopes after the end of last season. The incorporation of him is assumed to be decisive for a Barça team that has not just found its best level, especially on a regular basis.
"This is our best player," his teammate Álex Abrines assessed the club's media, who described the Balkan's return to training as "a joy" for the team. "He's been through some bad times since he had to undergo this procedure on his foot and it's a joy that he's back in training. He says he's fine and has done a good job (recovery). Now, he has to pick up the pace, and when be prepared, we will be here with open arms," said Abrines.
"The teammates have received him in a fantastic way. Waiting for the final stretch after five months. I have spoken with him, he is very excited. He already sees the end of the road to join the team. In the decisive stretch I hope he is already 100% % coupled. I hope that in a few weeks it can be incorporated", explained Josep Cubells, head of the section.
Mirotic's last game was on June 19 in the fourth game of the Endesa League final in which Barça lost the title against Real Madrid. The Barca star played 34 minutes and scored 14 points. Weeks later, once the season was over, his Achilles tendon discomfort was announced, with no return date.
