Mediterranean reflections in Blanca Subur

Beautiful sunset in Sitges, with the church of San Bartolomé and Santa Tecla and the Museu Cau Ferrat as witnesses. La Blanca Subur, as always, a beautiful paradise that we can admire in the Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia.

The image also highlights the orange sky caused by the candilazo phenomenon, as well as the silhouette of the bell tower of the church of San Bartolomé y Santa Tecla, which dates back to the 17th century and stands on a small peak near the Sitges beach. , giving it an asymmetrical and very beautiful shape.

But, above all, in the photograph the solar pillar appears reflected in the water of the Mediterranean off the coast of Sitges. A pillar light is an atmospheric optical phenomenon in which a vertical beam of light appears to extend above and/or below a light source.

The effect is created by the reflection of light from small ice crystals that are suspended in the atmosphere or that comprise high-altitude clouds (for example, cirrostratus or cirrus clouds).

If the light comes from the sun (generally when it is near or even below the horizon), the phenomenon is called a solar pillar, as in this case in Sitges.
