Mazón justifies the PP's refusal to recover civil law for fear of PSOE partners

The Valencian PP understands and shares the arguments of its party at the national level to close the door, for the moment, to the inclusion of Valencian civil law in the prompt reform of the Constitution to eliminate the diminished term of the Magna Carta.

In statements to this newspaper, Carlos Mazón, argued the refusal of his formation and the pact with the PSOE to limit the constitutional reform, in the fact that "the nationalist parties wanted to open the door to the separatist referendum." PP sources emphasize that if each autonomy took advantage of the specific change in the Magna Carta to include their demands, knowing the position of Pedro Sánchez's partners and their usual concessions, they would enter very dangerous territory.

However, the president of the PP wanted to make it clear that the recovery of this civil right - which was reactivated during the absolute majority of the PP in the Valencian Community and which was stopped by the Constitutional Court after an appeal by the Government of José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero who maintained the Executive of Mariano Rajoy- "continues to be a priority for the Valencian PP". In this line, Mazón argued that the claim will be addressed "without risk for the Spanish with a large majority of the PP."

Despite this clear refusal to include the demand in the next reform of the Constitution, the vice president and spokesperson for the Consell, Aitana Mas, insisted on asking the political forces of the Congress of Deputies to "reconsider" and meet the demands of the Executive and of all Valencian society to recover the Valencian Civil Law.

The leader of Compromís assured that the Consell continues to have a "firm and supportive" position for Valencian civil law, and considers that "a magnificent opportunity has been lost". Despite this, she did not want to consider the issue closed and stated that there is "a new opportunity in the coming weeks".
