Mazón demands that the Government "urgently" bury the train tracks in Alfafar

The president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has demanded that the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda urgently bury the train tracks in Alfafar to solve what he has described as an “ignominious drama.”

This was stated after holding a meeting with the mayor of Alfafar, Juan Ramón Adsuara, with representatives of the Platform of those affected by the level crossing and with the Minister of the Environment, Water, Infrastructure and Territory, Salomé Pradas, whom he also The mayor of Sedaví, Josep Francesc Cabanes, and other municipal representatives have joined.

The president has announced, during his visit to the level crossing, that the Generalitat is going to "expressly" update the project to bury the tracks, which it already drafted at the time, despite not having powers in this matter, and will will be made available to the Ministry in order to carry out this action immediately.

Likewise, he has indicated that he will send a personal letter to the Minister of Transport to hold a meeting as soon as possible and will transfer the update of the underground project "so that no more excuses are made and this stops being a national black spot."

Carlos Mazón has denounced the neglect suffered by the Valencian Community, with regard to rail transport, compared to the special treatment that the Government of Spain is giving to Catalonia, where it is making investments to bury level crossings. In this sense, he has directly called on Minister Óscar Puente to “take himself seriously and urgently solve this drama that cannot be delayed any longer.”

The head of the Consell has also highlighted that he will bring a proposal to Les Corts for the rest of the groups to support this request, since he has assured that it is not a political issue that can be used for partisan purposes but rather that "we all have to be united before this demand.”

Likewise, it has announced that amendments will be presented to the General State Budgets, once again, to include the necessary investments to bury this level crossing.

During his speech, he insisted that the burying of the tracks in Alfafar "is now a personal matter" so he will do everything in his power to ensure that the Ministry provides a solution as soon as possible since "it is about life of the people".

The president recalled that four people have lost their lives at this level crossing in the last year alone, in addition to the effects of the noise caused to residents by the more than 240 trains that circulate on these tracks every day.

Finally, he thanked the Alfafar City Council and its mayor for their work, as well as the rest of the political forces represented in the council, and especially the Platform of those affected by the level crossing, "for the work done to demand and defend the interests of the residents of Alfafar and the surrounding municipalities.”
