The Municipal Plenary Session of the Mataró City Council (Maresme) approved the appointment of the members of the new special information commission to make the City Council's human resources policy transparent in the selection and provision of jobs processes. In a previous plenary session, held on December 21, the creation of this special commission had already been approved.
The initiative arises after La Vanguardia announced the two files opened by the Anti-Frau Office (OAC) against the Mataró City Council. One of them generated by the complaint of a former official regarding excessive hiring by the emergency method, by hand, and the second for having dismissed the complainant despite having protected status. The PSC-ECP government once again insists that this is a labor dispute caused by a worker who lost her job and they show her confidence in the courts.
In accordance with the Regulations of organization, operation and legal regime of local entities, the special Informative Commissions deal with a specific matter and are automatically extinguished when the body has ruled or reported on it.
In this case, the Commission is tasked with analyzing and reporting in detail on the administrative files related to the selection and provision of job processes. Specifically, it will deal with the issues arising from the actions of Antifrau in relation to the complaints filed by a former municipal worker reporting on alleged irregular hiring practices. In this regard, the City Council has responded to all the information requests received from the OAC, which on December 1 announced the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against the City Council for the possible commission of administrative infractions.
The special commission will be made up of a representative and an alternate from each municipal group. It will be chaired by first deputy mayor Miquel Àngel Vadell (PSC) and the vice-chair will be councilor Sarai Martínez (En Comú Podem Mataró). The rest of the titular members appointed by the municipal groups are councilors Joaquim Camprubí (ERC), Judith Cortés (VOX), Alfons Canela (Together for Mataró), Cristian Escribano (PP) and Carlos García (CUP). The groups have also designated a substitute in each case.
Agreements will be decided by weighted vote. The conclusions will have to be submitted to the plenary session within a period of six months, extendable to a maximum of three more, with the prior agreement of the simple majority of its members.
