Maroto delays her landing in municipal politics as a candidate for the Madrid City Council

The early riser movement of Más Madrid with the campaign What Rita is going to do has accelerated the movements of the respective candidates for the Madrid City Council in the May elections with the exception of Reyes Maroto, the socialist bet who this Friday has said that he still has a little at the head of the ministry because he wants to close the agreement of the State Pact for Industry that, he has indicated, could be signed in the coming weeks.

Maroto, before participating this Friday in the Extraordinary Tourism Sector Conference, responded to the media when asked when she would stop being a minister to dedicate herself exclusively to being a candidate for Mayor, which at the moment "we are defining a bit my departure" from the Ministry.

And, when cross-examined, she added that she still has "a little" left since, after four and a half years in which she has defended the industry and that it "is today in the political space as one of the great bets of the Government "She would like to close her stage as minister with that state pact.

Maroto has not evaded the possible inclusion of the former mayor Manuela Carmena to be included in the list with which she will appear in the elections on May 28 and, despite categorically denying it, has assured that she will have a "very important" role to mobilize the vote from the left.

In statements to the media in San Blas during a visit to merchants, Maroto has rejected a platform from the left for the elections, because, in his opinion, "each party has a very clear and very differential political project."

"Therefore, what we have to do is excite the people of Madrid, in this case so that they vote for the PSOE and my candidacy, but without a doubt the role of Carmena is going to be very important because she represents the change in the city", added the minister and candidate, recalling that the former judge became Mayor in 2015 and won the elections in 2019.
