Madrid will need to cover 20,000 new cybersecurity jobs by 2027

The Minister of Digitalization, Miguel López-Valverde, has estimated the number of jobs that will be needed in cybersecurity in the next four years at 20,000 and has stressed that Vocational Training will play a "fundamental" role.

This is what López-Valverde said at the Madrid Informative Breakfast, organized by Europa Press, where he assured that this sector "is boiling and that this data will continue to grow", especially in sectors such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).

"I believe that it is not very complicated for digitalization to rise from 27% to 40% of the regional GDP. The good thing about FP is that many people are trained in a very short time so that they can reach the labor market as soon as possible," he said. the counselor underlined.

Likewise, he stressed that digital training "will be important" to train the new profiles that "many companies are already requesting." He has also highlighted the collaboration with all the regional government departments, especially with Employment and Education, to reach 40% of the regional GDP.

And the Community has set itself the objective of reaching "full employment" in the next four years with the goal of reducing the unemployment rate from the current 9.56% - according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) for the second quarter of 2023- at 7% at the end of the legislature.

In the field of education, the offer has already been expanded to include specialization courses for FP in fields such as 5G, virtual reality or program development. And in the coming years, the Community plans to continue including new training modules related to the technology sector.
