Madrid copies Catalonia's idea: groups are created to stop children from having mobile phones

Madrid copies the idea of Catalonia: a global group has been formed, and others by neighborhoods and districts, in different online applications with the aim of stopping young people from using mobile phones up to the age of 16.

This initiative, which started at the end of last week in Barcelona, has crossed borders and is being implemented in Catalan municipalities, Girona and Lleida. But the journey goes far beyond Catalonia. He has arrived in the capital.

Given the need for young people not to feel excluded for not bringing a mobile phone to school, that is, from the age of 12, a group has been created on Telegram called "Mad-Smartphone-free Adolescence", which in very few cases hours has more than 150 members. And it is growing every minute that passes. In addition, as a result of this initiative, district groups are being created, such as Aravaca-Pozuelo, Pacífico-Retiro or Chamartín.

In the general group, the contributions given by the Poblenou group, where the initiative arose, have been uploaded. Likewise, they offer to post "resources and the actions that will be achieved."

Father Raúl Durán, with children aged 15 and 20, explains to La Vanguardia.com that "many families give away the terminals at Communion." To which he adds "my children wear them so as not to feel excluded and be left out of all the circuits." And the worst of all is, "they do not use their smartphones to make calls, but rather for social networks with their friends, and above all to make and watch TiK ToK videos." "It's all visual. They don't write. The law of minimum effort," he says.

Rodrigo S Lumbreras points out in the Madrid Telegram group "Let's see if little by little we make this movement more visible in Madrid."
