Madaula also activates Parliament's harassment protocol against the Junts group

The complaints made from the lectern of the Parliament by deputy Aurora Madaula last November have also ended up in the internal channels of the Catalan Chamber, which must launch an investigation with independent experts from the equality office.

The second secretary of the Board and vice president of Junts per Catalunya, who has been on leave since before Christmas, has activated the institution's protocol for cases of harassment as her group partner, Cristina Casol, did last November, according to The newspaper Ara has advanced. It so happens that both deputies are part of the circle closest to the president of JxCat, Laura Borràs, and this whole matter has rekindled the tension between the two souls of Carles Puigdemont's party. In any case, the party avoids making comments since this entire process should be confidential and should not come to light if no action is proposed at the end of it.

As this medium pointed out a few weeks ago, Madaula desisted from presenting a document to the internal body of Junts that addresses these situations, the party's guarantee commission, due to his lack of confidence in it, although his case was going to be resolved. review only three people after the other three members of the collegiate body withdrew from their issue, two because they are deputies and share a group with her and so did the president of the commission, Magda Oranich, who already had a clash with Borràs ago. just over a year.

At first, the commission offered the deputy to present her brief within ten days. She asked for more time since she was on sick leave and was granted another seven days, but in the end she refused to present a document and announced that she would go to other instances. In parallel, the body had two writings on the table, one signed by 22 members of the parliamentary group and one from the party's feminist sector, which called Madaula's complaint the political use of feminism.

With this in mind, the situation of Madaula, who accused her party colleagues of "silent violence" during the Parlament de les Dones event and framed the change of political positions agreed upon by her in advance as a type of violence, has been classified as an episode of political disagreement by the majority of his parliamentary group and broad sectors of the leadership. In fact, the general secretary, Jordi Turull, and the vice president and spokesperson of the party, Josep Rius, have publicly denied that there is discrimination based on gender in Junts and attribute these complaints to the "political debate." A majority opinion within the parliamentary group led by Albert Batet.

Casol's complaint has already been resolved and the independent investigation concluded that the reported facts cannot be proven, although it did make some considerations about the internal climate within the group. It is not trivial that in JxCat two souls coexist with different visions on politics and from different political traditions.

After Casol's complaint was dismissed, the management asked her to hand in her deputy certificate and resign, but the deputy has assured that she does not plan to do so and that if necessary she will become a non-attached deputy in this last year of legislature, on paper. Of the 32 deputies that make up the group, 26 have demanded Casol's resignation by one means or another, more than 20 have done so through a letter, and the party executive will decide on his expulsion from the group at the next meeting.

That same circumstance may occur later with Madaula, who, according to the Efe agency a few days ago, is also willing to remain with Casol as non-attached if necessary, although now the procedure is not at that time. There is still no resolution of Madaula's case nor has she been asked to leave her seat, only for her to renounce her responsibilities on the Parliamentary Board. A request she declined.
