Look at the little newborn heron

A little royal heron has been born in Les Masies de Voltregà, in the region of Osona, and I have photographed it in the nest, as seen in this photograph in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

It's been more than a month since they arrived on the banks of the Ter River like every year and now there are nests with small babies poking their heads out, like the protagonist of this scene.

I captured the image from the viewpoint in the meander of Despujol in Les Masies de Voltregà, but the nest is on the other side of the Ter river which belongs to the municipality of Torelló.

Gray herons breed in colonies, usually in tall trees near water. In this area, specifically, they take advantage of the Ter River.

Nests start out as a small platform of sticks, but can end up being a huge mass of accumulated material.
