Liverpool's historic win and defeat of Leverkusen by debutant Xabi Alonso

Porto beat Bayer Leverkusen in Germany (0-3) and threw a bucket of cold water at Xabi Alonso's debut party in the Champions League at the helm of the German team. The Basque had debuted a few days ago in the Bundesliga with a victory (4-0) over Schalke. The defeat leaves Bayer bottom of the group.

The game was unbalanced very soon, after six minutes, in a great goal by Galeno in a long pass by goalkeeper Costa. Bayer tried everything in the first half, but had no luck. In the 15th minute a penalty shot by Demirbay was missed and in the 35th minute the VAR annulled a goal by Adli. Porto would sentence with another two penalty goals already in the second half, both marked by the Iranian Taremi. In the final minutes, Bayer would lose Diaby due to injury.

Liverpool started losing but ended up having a feast against Rangers (1-7), with a historic hat trick from Moh Salah in six minutes, in a match in which the Egyptian did not start.

Rangers went ahead with a goal from Arfield, but Firmino equalized at 24. The second half was a walk for the Reds. Apart from Moh Salah's triplet, Darwin Núñez and Elliott scored.

Tottenham achieved a long-suffering victory against Eintracht (3-2). Kane scored a penalty and missed another. Kamada put the German team ahead, but the best player for the Spurs was the Korean Son, author of a brace. Marseille easily beat Sporting in Lisbon (0-2), both goals in the first half, the first from Guendouzi, from a penalty, and the second from Alexis Sánchez.
