Less "Catalanism" and goodbye to historical memory, the 50 measures of the PP-Vox pact

The PP and Vox have agreed on a 50-point government program, including a drastic reduction in taxes and the elimination of some such as inheritance; a clear political will to reduce “Catalanism” by eliminating subsidies to pro-Catalan groups, fight against illegal immigration or the occupation of homes, promote the “free” choice of educational center for parents, repeal regional norms of historical memory and fight against the "domestic violence", among others.

The government program is divided into several areas. In the first, called "Freedom" it states: "We will defend the unity of Spain, equality among Spaniards and cultural wealth and diversity." And it is added: “We will vindicate the history of Spain and the Valencian Community and we will guarantee freedom of memory and absolute and full respect for the rights and freedoms of all. For this reason, the norms that attack reconciliation in historical affairs will be repealed.

It is in this section where it is warned: "We will approve a law on Identity Signs that protects the values, customs and traditions of the Valencian Community as an essential part of the plural wealth of Spain". In this law, as Mazón announced during the campaign, it will be allowed to issue Valencian titles to non-regulatory entities such as the Royal Academy of Valencian Culture or Lo Rat Penat. In addition, they announce: "We will eliminate the subsidies to the entities or associations that promote the 'Catalan countries'".

PP sources have pointed out to this newspaper that many of Vox's demands in social, educational, linguistic and cultural matters have been softened. Despite this, the green party has succeeded in imposing many of its views on these matters. Where there has been no problem is in the willingness to apply a drastic reduction in taxes.

In this regard, both formations are committed to a drastic reduction of personal income tax in all its sections, especially for medium and low wages; to reduce the regional rates "that prevent the growth and development of the industrial fabric in the Valencian Community"; The inheritance and donation tax will be eliminated, as well as the wealth tax and, also, the tourist tax. Here, too, both formations are committed to demanding a new regional financing model, a demand that until now Vox had refused to support.

As they defended during the campaign, both have promised to reduce the number of ministers, the number of senior officials and advisers and to suppress unnecessary bodies. In this sense, they are committed to a model of public broadcasting that is "rational with the economic situation" and with content that recognizes the plurality of society. Here it would be possible to broadcast in Spanish, as Vox claims.

In educational matters, the pact revolves around the guarantee of freedom of education translated into the freedom to choose the center (it could return to the single district) and to choose between the two official languages, as opposed to the multilingualism model of the Botànic.

There is no talk of a parental pin, but it does say that "parents will freely choose and, where appropriate, authorize the content of extracurricular activities." The idea of "taking ideology out of the classroom" is also emphasized and free and universal education is promised from the age of 0.

In health, the electoral promise to allocate 30% of the Generalitat's budget and recover the Cicus of Castellón and Alicante is fulfilled. Mental health, says the document, will be one of the pillars of the public health system.

Another of the points of the agreement refers to social and family policies. The future government undertakes to approve "a comprehensive law for the protection of the family that includes measures to promote the birth rate with birth aid, as well as essential expenses such as the school canteen, transportation, material, uniforms or extracurricular activities, the accompaniment of our elders, support for dependent people and their families with special attention to large families”. This morning, in an interview on Onda Cero, Carlos Mazón ruled out making a Family Ministry.

In this same section, the agreement talks about promoting policies that will seek to eradicate domestic violence, especially those suffered by women and children, guaranteeing equality among all victims. There is no talk of gender violence.

It stands out that the agreement only includes two points on infrastructures (one general on pending investments) and another on the Mediterranean corridor and four on security. The first of these, "in the event of an illegal occupation of a property, the public powers will guarantee the right to property by making available to the justice system all the personal and material means necessary to protect the affected party." Along these lines, "a specialized office will be created for the advice and support of all victims of illegal occupation."

Immigration also has a place in the program. Thus, the Generalitat Valenciana, "within the exercise of its powers, will inform the State security forces and bodies of possible cases of illegal immigration with special attention to organized mafias." And it launches one last warning: "We will eliminate the subsidies to entities that support these practices."
