La Moncloa warns that Feijóo pretends that he can be sworn in as president "to hide his failure"

In Moncloa and in Ferraz they have been celebrating since the election night of 23-J last that the leader of the Popular Party, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, does not have sufficient parliamentary support to be sworn in as the new president of the Government. And this was underlined this Wednesday by the Minister of the Presidency and Relations with the Courts, the socialist Félix Bolaños: "I see it as totally impossible."

Despite this, in the PSOE they warn that Feijóo is encouraging "false expectations" about his investiture. And this is how Bolaños has also highlighted it today: "The Popular Party, to hide its failure, is entertaining itself by pretending that Feijóo can have an investiture."

The minister thus recalled that some of the formations with which the PP leader has already contacted, to test his position in search of eventual support for his investiture, have already slammed the door in his face. For example, the Basque Nationalist Party (PNV), which has refused to even open a dialogue with Feijóo on the matter. “Some parties close the door on him in the hours that follow receiving his call, because when for years you have disrespected so much, you have insulted all the parliamentary groups in the Chamber so much, now Feijóo really has a terrible loneliness, only accompanied in his case by the most extreme extreme right”, he pointed out, referring to Vox.

In any case, Bolaños has ironized the offer of pacts that Feijóo now transfers to the PSOE, which he has even designated as a "State party", and to which he refers again by its initials, instead of disqualifying it as "the party sanchista”, as he did throughout the electoral campaign. “I thank Feijóo for now saying that the PSOE is a state and constitutionalist party after all the insults and all the falsehoods that we have had to endure in recent years. It is never too late”, the minister replied.

After the Government has achieved today that the permanent deputation of Congress validates its last decree-law in response to the economic consequences of the war in Ukraine -which brings to 215 the laws approved in this legislature-, Bolaños has appealed to discretion regarding the very contacts that the PSOE has already initiated with a view to a possible investiture of Pedro Sánchez. “Discretion in the conversations and publicity in the agreements when they are reached. That is the formula that we have used and the one that we are going to continue using”, the minister argued.

No rush, he insisted. Now vacation. “It is time to let the citizens rest, also rest from us, from the politicians, because these have been very intense months, and now the citizens have the right to rest, to enjoy the family and a few days of well-deserved rest”, has settled Bolanos.
