King Charles III speaks for the first time about his cancer in a personal statement

Last Monday, Buckingham Palace surprised with a statement announcing that King Charles III was suffering from cancer. The news came just after the British monarch underwent surgery for an enlarged prostate on January 26. And little else has emerged about his new illness, beyond the fact that it is not prostate cancer and that he has already started treatment.

After Queen Camilla expressed her first words last Friday about the king's state of health: "Given the circumstances, he is doing extremely well. He is very moved by all the letters and messages that the public has been sending from all over "That is very encouraging," now it was the monarch himself who wanted to address his subjects through a personal statement.

"I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the numerous messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days," he began by saying. "As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, those kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement," she continued.

"It is equally encouraging to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped to promote public understanding and shed light on the work of all those organizations supporting cancer patients and their families across the UK and around the world. My admiration of a lifetime for their tireless care and dedication, which is even greater as a result of my own personal experience," he concluded his writing.

The statement from King Charles III comes at a time when the other member of the royal house with health problems, Kate Middleton, has moved to Sandringham with her husband and three children, where the monarch is also located. The Princess of Wales is recovering from abdominal surgery performed thirteen days ago.

The change of residence would respond to Kate's desire to continue her recovery in nature and also facilitate Guillermo's movements, who now have in the same place the two people he must currently care for along with his obligations as heir, which he resumed last Wednesday.
