Key week for the possible signing of David Broncano for RTVE

The possible signing of comedian and presenter David Broncano by RTVE to bring his program La Resistencia to La 1 (currently on Movistar Plus) enters its key week. After this week, the Board of Directors of RTVE, in an extraordinary meeting, did not agree to contract this format for three years and 14 million annually and called on the corporation's Content Directorate to present another proposal with a duration of one year , next week a new Council meeting will be held, this time of an ordinary nature, to study the new proposal.

The RTVE councilors chose to postpone the vote on the hiring of Broncano in an extraordinary council due to doubts about the viability of a contract that would involve the payment of 42 million euros for three seasons, from September 2024 to July 2027. Also There are doubts about the success that a program like La Resistencia could have on general public television.

The proposal to sign Broncano contemplates broadcasting the program in prime time, in the same time slot as El hormiguero, by Pablo Motos, on Antena 3, which begins at 9:45 p.m. According to the contract studied by the council, it is also stipulated that if the program did not reach the average audience of TVE's La 1 in its first season on broadcast, it would move to the late night slot but without a reduction in cost.

Each episode would have a duration of approximately 70-80 minutes, and each season would have 160 chapters, for broadcast from Monday to Thursday. To accommodate the length of the program, Telediario 2 could end fifteen minutes earlier.

Broncano (Santiago de Compostela, 1985) became known with monologues and cut his teeth professionally with Andreu Buenafuente. His monologues led him to programs such as Nuevos comedians (Paramount Comedy), These are not the news (Movistar Plus), among others.

On the radio he has collaborated in spaces such as No Somos Nadie and Hoy por hoy (SER), although it was La Vida Moderna, with which he won an Ondas award, where he became one of the phenomena of radio humor along with Héctor de Miguel and Ignatius. Farray. In 2018 he began presenting La Resistencia, a program that he also co-directs, and which in 2019 also received the Ondas award for best entertainment program.

Sources from El Terrat indicated to La Vanguardia their willingness not to evaluate this matter beyond the fact that "we currently have a contract with Movistar Plus until July of this year and we are focused on this season." After that month, both the production company and Broncano are free to contract and broadcast programs with third parties, although the brand, format and social networks of La Resistencia belong to Movistar Plus. The intention, however, of both the production company and RTVE, is to try to obtain the license.

The proposal for the format to land on RTVE came after it was on Mediaset's table and the audiovisual group closed negotiations with El Terrat after not being able to accept the signing of three seasons.
