Kate Middleton's style: the keys to her looks

In recent weeks, nothing else has been talked about: the state of health and the whereabouts of Kate Middleton. Since the British Royal Family reported her abdominal surgery, there has been much speculation about what is really happening with the Princess of Wales. A rumor mill that has only gotten worse since the publication of the controversial photograph edited on the occasion of Mother's Day.

Last Saturday, the first images of the princess since the outbreak of the controversy, accompanied by her husband, Prince William, published by the British newspaper The Sun. In them, we could see her with a sporty style with a nod to the Rugby Football Union federation, which she has represented for three years. Leaving aside rumors and controversies, we analyze in detail the keys to Kate Middleton's look, characterized by elegance, sobriety and a very characteristic royal style.

As it could not be otherwise, the Princess of Wales's styling is an impeccable exercise in sobriety, elegance and sophistication, just as protocol dictates. But regardless of the rules that govern the label, Kate Middleton displays her own recognizable and genuine style.

On the most important occasions, such as galas and red carpets, she wears dresses made of airy fabrics, with a train and often wearing layers that add movement to her look. The A-line and the empire cut are her favorites, with the upper part tighter, marking the waist and unfolding into full-flow skirts.

There is no shortage of headdresses, hats or headbands in her wardrobe and she usually wears dresses adorned with elements such as lace, embroidery, rhinestone appliqués, or bows. In terms of prints, flowers and polka dots are the most common ones worn by the princess. Of course, her most recurring style is to opt for monochromatic looks, usually wearing neutral tones such as white, black or nude. She is followed by pinks, reds, blues and greens.

When she doesn't wear train dresses, she opts for midi length, always below the knee, in accordance with protocol. Pencil skirts or pleated skirts are common in her wardrobe. And on less formal occasions, she masterfully wears pant and jacket suits, where blazers take on special prominence. In a casual key, she also defends straight jeans and sailor-striped t-shirts.

Another highlight of the Princess of Wales's look is her inclination towards British designers, such as Alexander McQueen and Jenny Packham. Of course, sometimes she surprises by combining dresses from big brands with affordable touches, like her choice of Zara earrings to accompany her white Alexander McQueen dress at the 2023 BAFTA gala. Precisely on that occasion she repeated the dress, something that she does frequently, as it is also common to see her paying tribute to Lady Di and Queen Elizabeth II in her looks.
