Junts will hold all the rallies of the election campaign, except the last one, in the south of France

"Innovative and different", this is how Junts per Catalunya defines the electoral campaign for the Parliamentary elections on May 12. All rallies of the post-convergent formation, except for the one on the last day, which will be in Barcelona, will be held in the afternoon in Argelers, in the south of France. That day will be the last one with a screen, they emphasize in JxCat.

Instead of the candidate, former president Carles Puigdemont, connecting by videoconference, as he has done on other occasions since 2017, it will be the militants and local leaders from each area of Catalonia who travel by bus to the south of France every day. "We disconnect screens," Junts highlights.

In this way, the party tries to emphasize that the candidate is Puigdemont and that this time there is no plan B for a possible subsequent investiture debate. In fact, Puigdemont assured this week that whatever the result of the elections, he will be present at the investiture debate in the Parliament, even if he is not the candidate for the presidency of the Generalitat that day. In addition, the training also sells this campaign as an "experience", which means attending a campaign event there.

In any case, the training will offset the carbon footprint of the travel of the local Junts militants and leaders who will travel every day by bus to the south of France. "We are aware that holding all the rallies there has an ecological impact that is different from that of holding the campaign here," post-convergent sources point out.

Thus, at the end of the campaign a total calculation will be made and that carbon footprint will be offset with a contribution to collaborate with projects that return the footprint to the environmental field. The idea is that five or six buses travel every day, which means moving around 250 or 300 people.

Every day at 7:00 p.m. the main rally of the day will be held in a pavilion in that town, in the same place where JxCat held the congress two years ago, in 2022 and the bus will be paid for by the party, but it is offered militants the possibility of collaborating and making donations.
