Junts' militancy gives more support to Turull than to Borràs

Former Minister Jordi Turull (1,854 votes), the new Secretary General of Junts per Catalunya, has gained more support than the President of the Parliament and from today also of the formation, Laura Borràs (1,776), in the congress held by the party this Saturday in Algiers.

Before the appointment, the distribution of power was already agreed in advance, so the only unknown in this conclave was how much support each leader aroused today among the bases, since Borràs and Turull have been voted at the polls separately and not as a block, although they agreed on a joint executive in extremis at the beginning of May.

In fact, one of the vice presidents of JxCat, Anna Erra, who is also a deputy, mayor of Vic and president of the national training council, has surpassed Borràs by gathering 1,791 votes. Another of the four vice presidents, Josep Rius, very close to Carles Puigdemont, has remained at 1,676 supports and the two proposed by the already president of Junts, Francesc de Dalmases (1,419) and Aurora Madaula (919) have been left behind.

Thus, although there was no open conflict, it has been possible to measure the forces in JxCat, although both Borràs and Turull had claimed the joint vote and not separate.

Some party cadres, in the previous days, had considered the possibility that there would be a punishment vote for the new president of JxCat, especially after her voice messages were known in the court case in which she is being investigated for the alleged division of contracts when he was in charge of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes. "The car was already devastating but people don't read it, everyone listens to the audios," reasoned a militant at the gates of congress.

When the possibility of a confrontation between the two leaders was being considered, which in the end has not taken place, in Borràs' circle they admitted that facing Turull is not the same as facing her other rivals in the primaries that the president of the Catalan Chamber.

The bases of Junts have had a day and a half to vote electronically, the term opened yesterday morning and ended today at 2:00 p.m. To avoid leaks, only the president of the congress table, the former Minister Lluís Puig, had the results, in such a way that if they had been leaked there would have been a culprit.

Regulations in hand, the candidate for the organization secretary, David Torrents, one of the vice presidents, Laura Borràs, and one of the leaders of the executive should not enter as they do not reach 50% of their respective ballot box, but there is a political agreement to that they are all part of the new leadership and will be present on Tuesday at the meeting that will hold the match.
