Junts deputy Eduard Pujol says 'yes' by mistake to Feijóo and the Board annuls his vote

The JuntsxCat deputy, Eduard Pujol, has starred in the anecdote of this Friday's investiture vote that led to the failure of Alberto Núñez Feijóo by making a mistake and voting in favor of the candidate. The Catalan parliamentarian said yes when it was his turn instead of the no that he defended his formation and rectified a second later, the same thing that happened two days ago with the socialist deputy Herminio Rufino Sancho.

Unlike what happened then, when the secretary of the board allowed the instantaneous change of the vote through dialogue, this has not happened today and Pujol's vote has initially been counted as a yes. At the end of the vote, the members of the Board held a meeting to decide how to proceed.

Finally, the president of the Chamber, Francina Armengol, has announced that Pujol's vote has been counted as invalid, so the final result was 172 in favor, 177 against and one null vote. The last intervention occurred amid boos from the popular bench, who saw the possibility of adding one more vote, although useless, to Feijóo's credit. "In order not to want the votes of JxC, how is the PP fighting for the vote of the JxC deputy who made a mistake," Félix Bolaños, acting Minister of the Presidency, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The case has reminded us of that of former popular deputy Alberto Casero, who in the last legislature saved the Government's labor reform thanks to an error in electronic voting.
