Josep Molins Montes, an Olympic athlete at the 1960 Rome Games and a benchmark for athletics in Sabadell, where he was an athlete, coach and president of Joventut Atlètica Sabadell, passed away this Thursday at the age of 90, the Catalan club has reported.

Molins' career, who participated in the 1960 Olympic Games, was linked to the Sabadell Athletics Tracks, which bear his name.

During his time as an athlete, he was a Spanish record holder and three times Spanish champion between 5,000 and 10,000 meters.

He was also the coach of Carmen Valero, double cross world champion in 1976 and 1977, among many other athletes such as Miguel Quesada, also an Olympian.

The Spanish Athletics Federation has recalled the figure of Josep Molins through its social networks: "RIP Josep Molins, transcendental in the history of our athletics as an athlete, coach and manager."
