The doctor José Manuel García Buitrón, who was a senator for Podemos and manager of the University Hospital of La Coruña, has died this Saturday in Madrid at the age of 77, the party has reported.
The urologist was born in 1945 in Toreno (León), graduated in Medicine in Madrid and pursued his career in Galicia, where he specialized as a surgeon and transplant coordinator and was one of the doctors who performed the first transplant in Galicia, in 1981.
He obtained the act of senator for the En Marea coalition in the A Coruña constituency in the December 2015 elections and has been responsible for health at Podemos Galicia.
