Joan Mir will be Márquez's teammate at Honda for the next two seasons

The two Spanish world champions in the premier motorcycle category, Marc Márquez and Joan Mir, will form a tandem after the latter has joined the Repsol Honda team for the next two seasons. Thus, Marc Márquez will have a luxury partner to be able to fight for the Constructors' World Championship.

Mir changes teams following Suzuki's decision to leave MotoGP at the end of the season for financial reasons, prompting Alex Rins to join Honda's satellite team, LCR Honda, in 2023.

With Mir, Honda acquires a double world champion, since he won the world championship in Moto3 and MotoGP. The 24-year-old driver from Palma de Mallorca has won 12 grand prix and has achieved 33 podiums in his career as a driver.

Mir will replace Pol Espargaro at Honda, who will join KTM-Tech3/GasGas. Pol is seventeenth in the world championship with 42 points, while Mir is twelfth with 77. This season Marc Márquez has missed six Grands Prix despite scoring 60 points.
