Ja Morant apologizes for posting a video with a gun

Ja Morant, one of the great stars of the NBA, has been in the news in recent days due to various extra-sports controversies. After being accused of hitting and threatening a young man with a gun, the Memphis Grizzlies franchise player has been suspended by the Tennessee team for at least the next two games after posting a video on Instagram of himself carrying a firearm.

The point guard, 23 years old, has accepted his mistake shortly after and has complied with the sanction. "I take full responsibility for my actions last night. I apologize to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, collaborators, the city of Memphis and the entire franchise," Morant wrote in a note.

Morant published a live video on Instagram at dawn this Saturday in which he was seen shirtless and with a gun in hand in a nightclub, after his team's defeat against the Denver Nuggets. The one from South Carolina explains that he is "going to take some time to get help and work on better ways to manage stress" with the aim of improving his "general well-being."

Morant, leader of the second-ranked Grizzlies in the Western Conference, will miss games against the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers, both in California. In the duel against those in gold and purple, former Spanish player Pau Gasol will be honored, whose number 16, with which he won two rings with the Angelenos, will retire.

"The Grizzlies report that Ja Morant will be away from the team for at least the next two games," Memhis's statement concluded about their player, All Star, who this season is the eleventh highest scorer with 27.1 points, in addition to contribute 6 rebounds and 8.2 assists in the 53 games he has played.
