Irene Montero charges against "El Hormiguero" for the "stale" speech against Pilar Lima

The Minister for Equality, Irene Montero, has assured this Saturday that in Spain "democracy is making its way" in the face of the "rancid" speech on the television space 'El Hormiguero' towards the Podemos candidate for mayor of Valencia, Pilar Lima, as stated during a visit to the Madrid town of Rivas.

The General Directorate for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda informed the Prosecutor's Office this Friday of the "mockery" poured out on Lima, by the presenter of the program 'El Hormiguero' Pablo Motos, and his collaborator, Miguel Lago, for "inciting discrimination".

Asked for her opinion, Montero has described as "shameful" that a television space is used in 'prime time', which is watched by more than two million people, "to ridicule feminist policies and people with functional diversity".

Likewise, the head of Equality has highlighted that in Spain, "luckily, diversity, inclusion, democracy is making its way", despite "despite the fact that there are those who want to take advantage of 'very important' media spaces to continue promoting machismo".

In this sense, Montero has highlighted that for her "there is no more pride that Podemos is presenting an immense majority of candidacies headed by women, many of them young women, diverse women and women who are taking historic steps."
