Illa denies Junqueras and denies that the amnesty has been agreed

The first secretary of the PSC, Salvador Illa, denied this Wednesday the president of ERC, Oriol Junqueras, who yesterday assumed that the agreement that his party signed with the PSOE for the constitution of the Congress Board already included the amnesty that the independentists put as an essential condition for an eventual investiture of Pedro Sánchez.

"When we make an agreement we explain it and we have not explained anything, I think I have answered everything," Illa responded when asked specifically about the republican leader's words in an interview on the Cafè d'Idees program on TVE's La 2, in the who insisted on discretion. "Talking about amnesty would not do a good service," the PSC leader replied to avoid giving details of possible negotiations or contacts regarding the investiture.

"I want to be very prudent, patient and discreet," reiterated the former Minister of Health, who sees an opportunity for Spain and Catalonia always within the framework of the Constitution after, in his opinion, the polls have said no to PP and Vox and have opted for "a progressive, plural and diverse majority" that, in their opinion, "better represents Spain."

What Illa did rule out is a referendum because, as he has said other times, "it is divisive" and what it is about is finding points of agreement with the objective of "concord and for Spain to advance." In any case, Illa ruled out talking about the price that Junts could put on an investiture of Sánchez and warned that first "we have to see if there is a possibility of agreement" and warned that the socialites will be generous but not naive. "All generosity, no naivety," he noted.

On the other hand, the socialist leader was very hurt by the words of the municipal head of Junts in the Barcelona City Council, Xavier Trias, who linked the PSOE with the 23-F. "These words hurt me a lot because I have personal respect for him," acknowledged Illa, who believes that "a rectification on his part is appropriate." Illa insisted that the accusations are "obviously false" and recalled that many people in his political circle fought for democracy.
